Roughly half a mile from Poe's grave is one of the houses where he lived. The house was probably built around 1830. At the turn of the twentieth century, all of the surrounding buildings were torn down in order to build a public housing project. The Poe house was saved and attached to the end of one of the project buildings. For more information, see the City of Baltimore Web Site.
